Heb - Manager Review from Houston, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I purchased 2 cucumbers for .58 and was charged 1.39/lb for 1 for a total of 2.75. The total should have been 1.16 for the 2 cucumbers per item not per pound. This error was discovered upon my arrival at home. When I returned the receipt to HEB on Louetta, I was given the difference. When I asked why I did not receive the full amount charged I was told HEB does not do that and the manager would be told later. No compensation for me having to return to the store. Everyone please check your receipt before paying.

Quality of cooked food sold at store in HEB WHARTON TX

HEB BRAGS ABOUT ALL THE SEAFOOD THEY PURCHASE NATIONWIDE AND SELL AT THEIR STORES. I BOUGHT A PLATE OF FOOD CONSISTING OF SHRIMP AND FISH. THE SHRIMP WAS SEAPAK BRAND FROZEN PRODUCT. OF ALL THE BAGS OF SHRIMP IN THE STORE THEY TAKE A BOX OF PROCESSED SHRIMP CONSISTING MOSTLY OF BREADING AND HAVING NO FLAVOR. COST APPROX 8.00 I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED. WHY TAKE A PRODUCT LIKE THIS WHEN SO MUCH GOOD SHRIMP WAS AVAILABLE? MY FAMILY SPENDS OVER 500 DOLLARS A MONTH AT THIS STORE AND IS VERY HAPPY WITH THE STORE OVERALL. THIS MIGHT SEEM TRIVIAL TO SOME.

They do not give a darn about you. I saw two men shoplift in one in corpus and was told they don't care at night.

We have to pay higher prices and they don't give a flip. Those in charge are corrupted by greed. They will pay in the end, though. Giving to charity for a write off is not going to buy their way into Heaven.

Those that give for the right reasons aren't asking for tax write offs or publicity.

Keep right, keep speaking the truth. Stand strong and be righteous. The unrighteous will be tortured in *** for all of eternity.

In the grand scheme, let them have their filthy lucre. I'd rather be broke than broken.

Taking the Central Market products out and trying HEB Organics is just Gross

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Some HEB's are called "hybrids" as they have a mix of HEB and Central Market products. The owner of Central Market does not want his products in HEB so HEB has had to create their own "Organic" line.

90% of it is stale and the taste is not good. I always buy other brands now and no HEB Organic or other brands. It would only be in an emergency ! Whoever thought it was a good idea to start stripping the Hybrid idea away has made a huge mistake.

The Dripping Springs store originally began to have a good thing going - they had some good quality HEB brand products, other Brands and plenty of Central Market products. Now they have stripped the shelves of good quality HEB anything, added Organics by HEB and 90% of it is NOT GOOD ! They are slowly stripping the Central Market products out. I go to Bee Cave as often as possible.

At least they still carry more good products overall and more Central Market products. Even so I noticed the HEB Organics there the other day and was very upset. I think it is a disgrace what these nephews have done to this store in honor to Mr. Butt, the original owner.

I have to go to Whole Foods now to get white sweet potatoes even though the D.S. store carried them forever. It is a nightmare from stocking on time, having the shelves full and then having our options stripped away and the quality of HEB brands drop severaly. I hope the nephews will talk and all the other powers that be and they will start getting things back to how they used to be.

What an embarrassment to newcomers and people like us who have lived here for over 30 years.

Bring back the old Hybrid HEB's and that includes the one in Dripping Springs and Bee Cave, Texas. One day you will be sorry when enough people realize what you have done and are doing to us the consumer !!!

H-E-B owns Central Market, so if there's a Central market item that you want specifically, you can talk to a manager or put in a special request to have it delivered to your store.

They won't do it at Dripping Springs. I have filled out 10 green cards and talked to several people.

The big Manager is not helpful.......the other people try but they have no control. HEB has lost some of it's original "ideals" .......very sad !

Deceptively labeled meat products

Big sale on beef chuck TX style ribs. Actual product is chuck roast cut into strips to look like ribs. Chicken leg thigh quarters. Actual product is leg/thigh with a large chunk of the back and skin off the back folded underneath. This is not seen from the packaging. Chicken thighs. Actual product A chicken thigh with a large piece of skin and fat folded under where you can't see it. This is the Port Lavaca, TX store. I don't know if this occurs in other HEB stores. I'm going to go to the Victoria TX store to see if it also occurs at that store.

Petitioning H-E-B: Give me back the dignity of work

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
https://www.change.org/p/h-e-b-give-me-back-the-dignity-of-work Because I have Type 1 Diabetes I have been prevented from working by H-E-B grocery stores - a chain of over 350 stores. I am now homeless and struggling to get the medication I need because I have no money coming in. I am writing these words on a phone no longer with service that I only keep so I can use the free wifi at McDonalds to right this wrong and get back to work. My story is not unique, but together we can make sure the ending is one of hope. Please take a moment to hear my story and support me in demanding H-E-B end their discrimination of people with disabilities and allow me to return to work. When I started working for H-E-B grocery chain I thought I had finally made it. Working for a company with over 350 stores brought a sense of security, and when they asked me to move up to a full time position with full benefits, I felt like I won the lottery. I loved the company, they rewarded hard work, and I worked with some of the greatest people. It wasn't the fanciest job in the world, but I grew up without much and learned to appreciate what so many today take for granted. I was determined to not to repeat the mistakes of my parents, both unable to raise me and absent from my life because of drugs and criminal activity, and make an honest living and contribute to my community. As long as I worked hard and stayed out of trouble I knew I would be ok. I was wrong. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and there are days where it is impossible for me to work. It's not often, but there are bad days. Luckily the Family Medical Leave Act has a program that allows you to take needed time off without worrying about getting fired. H-E-B had me enroll into Cigna and I was required every 6 months to get a doctor to confirm I was still a Type 1 Diabetic. I had done this several times without an issue, but the last time my 6 months came up I found my usual doctor refused to sign the form, saying they didn't do them anymore. I frantically searched for another physician to sign and got the same answer where ever I went. When I pushed for an answer I was told they were more trouble than they were worth, many doctors found themselves pulled into legal disputes. Finally I found a doctor who would sign the needed form - 200 miles away. He signed, and as is protocol to prevent fraud, he faxed it to human resources of H-E-B. Days later H-E-B was saying they never got the form and that any days I took off were not excused. In a matter of seconds I went from having a job I loved to standing outside being told I was off the schedule. I was in shock and couldn't understand what was happening. It took me a while to realize my diabetes had become a burden for H-E-B and they wanted me out of the picture. As word of my situation spread throughout the store, I quickly learned I was not alone. Others shared their experience of being called out and belittled because of their disability. Most were like me, didn't have much and couldn't afford to rock the boat. They remained silent so they could keep meals on the table and the bills paid. Asking for help is something I never really knew how to do. It takes a moment like this to know it's ok to ask for help. Today I am asking for your help. Please join me in calling for H-E-B to honor my loyalty and hard work, to accept the countless confirmation of my Type 1 Diabetes by doctors, and allow me to work. I want to show those who shared their stories in secret that they too can work hard and keep their dignity, that we can demand fair treatment without losing our jobs. Please join me and sign the petition today demanding H-E-B give me to return to work.

I went to heb on Guadalupe in LAREDO Texas on Tuesday October 1st 2015 and I was withmy daughter we had gone through the 10 items or less check out and I had more than 10 items in my basket so I told my daughter to pay the 10 items and I would pay the other 10 items as I approached the counter cashier she said this is only for 10 items I replied saying I know my she is going to pay for those items and I will pay the other 10 and then she said you cant do that its only one cart per person and i said sorry I didn't know..i said that that if she wanted i would change lanes..she kept nodding her head like saying no no no. she was obviously bothered by the fact that I had done that so as she was checking out my daughter she kept nodding her head and I said I'm sorry ...I'll move and she continuously nodding like a horse saying no and kept charging the 10 items.not even bagging the items then my daughter gave Her the money to pay and she tried giving me the change and i replied saying i didn't pay you she did.and she gave the change to my daughtert Rudly she was upset and continued nodding.and i said i cannot believe your acting like this ..it brothers you that much??

and she said it's not fair to the customer behind you..i was just in awe that she Was acting this way .. she started scanning my things me didn't even bother bagging my daughters groceries ..well as I had paid her for my groceries she started bagging items ..and the items that my daughter paid for got stuck in the black thingy ...deli cheese and deli ham and grapes and bread were all messed up and got stuck and were smashed so I said really and she said that's what happens because we don't have baggers in this checkout ..so i told her i don't want the cheese...

and she asked for my receipt to refund me and she says that's not the receipt... i had given her the right one she was just so upset that she didn't see it so then i handed her the other reciept and she said it's not in this one either..and i said just give me the cheese and she said i didn't charge it so.she was like gonna keep it...and i said let me see the receipt and I looked at it and I saw that she had charged this it showed it and I said give me the cheese and she gave me the cheese and I got my receipt i was so upset walked out I was standing outside looking at her at the window I was furious that she had done that and I was as I was standing there I saw that a bagger went to go help her bag some groceries so I walked right back in and I said I thought you said no beggars would help you and she mumbled something and I asked the bagger who the manager was on duty was and he pointed to her and I went and I complained they assured me that she would get reprimanded and I hope she does because that is very rude like I said I was wrong in maybe doing that but I had never done that before and I didn't think it was a big deal she could have just let it go but she kept on I hope they do something!

Get in the correct lane. I know why this cashier was out of sorts, if you'd care to take the time to read it.

H.E.B. has an asinine 35 items per minute policy for cashiers. There is a huge amount of daily pressure in the form of managers coming and telling them what their numbers are, performance/number based raises, posting the numbers at the Self-Checkout stand to remind everyone to "GO FASTER" etc. One slow check out can kill their average, and in turn cause their manger to ride their *** some more, just like that.

One irregular day on a 10 item or less stand can screw their averages, therefor their raises. Raise amounts are based on "performance", even though everyone's groceries are being thrown around and mauled to maintain store numbers. 10 item or less cashiers are not given a bagger usually so they are now having to do the job of two people AND maintain their item per minute average because you're too good to get in the correct lane. And yes managers will even direct you to those lanes.

Because they are worried about their numbers as well. Seeing a full basket coming, without a bagger and ticked off people behind you, lining up with a few items becomes very stressful, believe it or not. Now the next few "too good to wait" customers will be grumpy and giving that cashier grief. The baggers in large stores, in regular lanes are non stop working their butts off to keep up, so your groceries are packed with little regard because of this 35 item per minute nonsense.

The moral of the entire front end starts to break down. From customers to cashiers. They are grumpy, some can fake it, some are pushed to the brink of insanity by their CCMs incessant reminders to "GO FASTER", and they eventually blow a fuse. It's not personal and is a direct result of H.E.B.'s corporate pandering, slave driving, conveyor belt mentality that they have adopted in recent years.

It's unfortunate but most stores are now a corporate appendage and have the friendly, helpful, neighborhood store appeal of about ZERO on a scale of 1 to 10. So in short, cool your heels and stop acting like a child. There's enough disregard in this world already. Go to the correct lane.

Complain to H.E.B. about their policies that are unfair to the cashier. The cashier is never getting more than 30 seconds in between customers, because they don't hire or schedule enough cashiers during peak hours. They are going by instinct after a couple of hours.

Handing the change to you instead of your daughter is a non issue. They don't have time to figure out if you're playing "go to the store" with your kid today. Remember these people have lives, daily pressure and feelings. Be nice.

Tell them you'll bag yourself or help bag.

Act like you giva *** about the hard working person in front of you. We're supposed to be living in a society not a hierarchy.

Taste terrible, strange flavor in dough...really would like a full refund as they went in the trash ater 1st cookies, and the cinnamon bread does not have enough cinnamon and the sour dough bread hasthe sour dough flavor alright, but the bread itself has bumps in it and does not stay fresh at all...your company seems to have gone to heck in the past few years....but your prices are still right at thetop. Nasty, old hamburger mea:

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
HEB advertises on the radio that their meat was probably processed and packed after one leaves their house to go to HEB. Pure advertising bs. Their hamburger meat is old. They put the new meat on the top and the old meat in the middle. Other grocers use to do that. One sees the fresh meat when one looks at the package but when one gets home and opens the package, one sees the old meat on top surrounding the old grey meat in the middle, pure disgusting. HEB use to be the best, and they were the only grocer that I would go to. I live in San Antonio, and companies like Frost Bank and HEB were hometown companies that we backed but now HEB has really changed. Sounds like the bean counters took over, and we know what happens when the bean counters take over. I have seen so many companies suffer after the bean counters took control. I want my old HEB back. What happened? Did the Butts let someone else control the business? HEB is going straight downhill.

Extremely Rude Cashier

I went with my two children to HEB on Marbach Rd. in San Antonio, Tx for groceries at night on Saturday 08/23/2014.

During checkout I noticed that I forgot the drinks so I sent my son for the sodas. This was actually his first time there so he did not know where the sodas were located. As he was taking off to get the sodas the cashier then looks at my son and says, "You better hurry up cause I am almost done." My son and I just looked at her expecting her to laugh but we realized she was serious. She then said rudely, " "You think I'm playing right?" Wow, we just ignored her and I waited for my son to come back with the drinks.

As she was done ringing up my groceries, my son arrived with two 3 liter sodas. I could tell the cashier, Diana, was very bothered by this and she asked if I still wanted them. I said yes. She then looks at my son again and tells him with an evil look on her face, "You better not ever work at HEB or you will be fired for this." My son was extremely embarrassed and hurt.

He was at the point of crying. He is 17 and a senior in high school, he plans on going to college so he is not dumb as she made it sound.

I don't know what her problem was but she should not be working as a cashier if she does not have patience with the customers. We did not say anything back to her out of respect for the rest of the customers but I would like to express my complaints here.

Ignore the trolls or the bitter H.E.B. cashiers, fact is cashiers are told customers are always right, so that cashier should have been reported for the bad attitude.

Is it annoying when a customer makes a cashier wait? Yes. Will that cashier get in trouble, maybe have some work hours taken away because she is not scanning quickly enough? Probably, she may even have children to support and you might have been like the twentieth person that day to go back for something and she's thinking she might get fired or have her hours cut and happened to take it out on you.

Does this make her attitude right? No it does not, point is cashiers at H.E.B. are not paid minimum wage, starting pay is around 9.50 an hour with no experience for a reason, and that is customer service. I love shopping at my H.E.B.

and have rarely come across a grumpy employee but when I do , I report them.

I also respect that they have a job to do and if my groceries are already on that belt and I forgot something then I will get it later because I am the one who forgot, not the cashier. You were in the wrong for thinking only of yourself and didn't even think of her situation, but she knows better than to be rude to you for it.

I understand what you are saying but since it was after 11:00 pm and the store was a ghost town, there was no one in back of us while checking out. Someone did arrive but that was when I had already paid for the groceries.

There was no pressure, I paid with cash with my hard earned money so her attitude really surprised me. She had just finished up with a customer that was in line in front of us. She was having trouble with a purchase he was making so she had to call a manager to help her override the purchase. Nothing bad was said to him even though he did take quite a while.

I don't know if maybe that situation upset her enough to take it out on us but something like that has never happened to me at HEB. I was not only thinking of myself at all. I was conversing with her because I could see that she was upset and we even bagged our own groceries. I didn't just stand there expecting her to bag them for me.

When my son took off for the sodas she was still ringing up my groceries, she wasn't even done yet. It only took him about a minute to grab two sodas because he ran there and back. When he got back she was still ringing up the last few groceries. That's when she looked at my son with the most evil look on her face.

I finally realized that she definitely had something against us.

I ended up reporting her. HEB called and apologized for the incident and I haven't seen her there since.

My complaint is about people like you in the check-out line. You forgot something, so belly up and go get it after you get checked out. You think you are so important that you don't mind making everyone else behind you wait so you can get an item you forgot.

My complaint is about self important, impatient *** like yourself that think waiting an extra minute or two in a grocery line is somehow affecting your life so negatively. Get a real problem.

I'm the type of person that will turn around and confront you when you suck your teeth or shift from hip to hip, sighing, acting like a child. Some people aren't push overs and could care less about your social disorder. However, I know why this cashier was out of sorts, if you'd care to take the time to read it. H.E.B.

For your information, I hadn't even finished checking out yet, I had just begun to place the items on the belt when I sent my son to get the two sodas. It was my first time there so I didn't even know where the sodas were myself.

Also it was at 12:00 midnight so there was only one other person in line in back of us. It was not a loooong line like you are suggesting. I had just finished waiting in back of a person that the cashier was assisting and she took quite a while but those things do not bother me.

I expect everyone to be treated with respect especially the customers. It was uncalled for and very rude.

Guest

Why did you send your son to get sodas if he didn't know where they were? Why didn't you go get them?

Why would a 17 year old let the comments of a low-life minimum wage cashier upset him?

He could have looked her dead in the eye and said he was going to college so he didn't have to work a minimum wage job like her! Or, you could have grown a backbone and said something.

H.E.B. trains the cashiers to tell the bagger to go get the item, if they have a bagger. Refer to my reply to above comment for why you're an ***

Langdon Edh
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-860755

What does that have to do with anything? She would of still been upset because it was my first time there also.

I didn't know were the sodas were myself. My son went because he offered to get them. For your information my son is going to school to become a respiratory doctor so it has nothing to do with not having a backbone. It was the fact that her comments were unnecessary and very unprofessional.

I guess I expect people to be respectful and patient with each other. I treated here very nicely. My 12 year old daughter even bagged the groceries for her.

It only took my son about a minute to get the sodas and she was not even done scanning my groceries when he got back so she obviously has other problems going on her life. She should not take it out on the customers.

There's a CCM that is too friendly with 2 of his checkers, which happened to have transfered from the same store he did, around the same time. Coincidence? I doubt it. There is a rude young lady that works in the customer service center and she is by far, the last person that should be dealing with customer service. Everyday I go and try to cash my check, she gives me a snobby attitude. She messes with her phone during the assistance she is getting paid to give me. Heb - Turkey Review from San Antonio, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
HEB @ Loop1604 & Blanco Rd.., San Antonio today, 11/25/2014 selling "Fresh" labe3led turkeys at $2.00 to $5.00 a pound-yet-they were all "FROZEN". I looked up the definition of fraud and this practice qualifies. Spoke to a butcher behind fresh meat counter and he stated "that's how we get them". Spoke to another "manager" at check out and was told that's the way it is. So, I went to Whole Foods and bought my fresh turkeys there and an additional $115.00 of goods. No competition breeds poor service/products and HEB's arrogant attitude. They have lost a customer for good. Whole Foods & Trader Joe's will get my food money.
