My name is Debra Benavidez,

I applied for many jobs with HEB Corporation, I went to two HEB's that stated they do not hire rehires because it was their policy and they were very strict about not hiring prior HEB workers. The HEB on Palm Valley, round rock texas gave me the run around and just led me on instead of being up front. Which I thought was very unprofessional. I then went to the HEB on University and I talked to the manager who's name was Kevin, which stated to me he had bad experiences with rehires and they are no longer hiring rehires anymore, so I am literally a statistic and being labeled from others that have been bad seeds. I do not feel that is fair assuming that I am just like the other employees that have done HEB wrong. I then gave up on HEB because of what I was told and then I get a call from Mark at the HEB store on Gattis School Road, I interviewed with Mark and the Unit Director and explained to them about the other HEB's that did not give me a chance due to me being a rehire, they were surprised to here what I had said, and he stated that he like rehires and that he wanted me to come in for an interview. I felt the interview went well until I saw the unit director who's name was Chris so he was kind of reluctant and seemed not impressed, gave me a background form to fill out and he said he would give me a call but I never did get a call instead I got an email that told me that I was not selected. I feel that HEB has gotten very unprofessional and making people feel belittled just because others have given rehires a bad name does not mean everyone is the same way. I gave them my reasons why I had to leave HEB suddenly, I am a military spouse and we moved a lot when we were active duty at the time. My husband is not active duty but is National Guard and works for the Government, if that is the way HEB treats military and their family member I don't want to be a part of a company that discriminates against prior employees. I have a disabled child and I have been out of work for 3 years and I am a current Devry student majoring in Technical Management and will be graduating December, 2015. I was hoping to make HEB a career since they offer a program that trains employees for management. I worked for the business center in Falfurrias, Texas I really enjoyed it but due to personal reasons I had to leave. I feel that these HEB Retail Stores and Human Resource needs to me investigated about their hiring process. It seems they hire who they want and not who is qualified. If you need to contact me, please feel free.

Thank you,

Debra Benavidez, Contact info 512-619-**** and email: dbnvdz@***.com

Aye *** shut up.....clearly you were the problem if they coded you as not rehireable

Maybe it's just you, I was re-hired and given immediate access to the 401k plan without having to wait the one year period.

how long did you wait till you were rehired?

They do hire who they want. It's a free country. You can quit whenever you want and they don't have to hire you.

I think you missed the point. She would like former employees to be considered as viable applicants and not be excluded because a manager has had a bad experience with someone else who was a rehire. Fair enough!
